Hey everyone yes we are still here!
I can explain but I have no real excuse. First, I guess it was good that nothing exciting was really going on so I didn't feel like I had anything interesting to share. And then second and I guess the biggest reason/excuse was that I had pneumonia. :(
Pneumonia is bad enough but when you're pregnant there is basically nothing you can do. It started with a trip to Urgent Care on Friday afternoon and after the doctor basically pulled something out of the air, I left with a packet on a sinus infection. This was after he said maybe bronchitis then maybe just a viral infection and then low and behold his final answer was sinus infection. After 5 days on antibiotics and no relief I finally get into my "real" doctor and he says that I need a whole different course of meds because I have walking pneumonia. At that point I was thinking, "I wish this would walk right out of my body so the baby and I (and Josh) can sleep at night and take some deep breaths." The positive that came out of all of this is that everytime I went to the doctor I got to hear the baby's heartbeat, which by the way is still normal! Also Josh and I got some great "bonding" time while I was hacking and blowing my nose every 5 seconds.
I have to give a great shout out to the morning sickness god and him finally leaving me alone. I decided about 3 weeks ago to stop taking the miraculous medicine that helped me stop throwing up. Needless to say the birds weren't chirpping yet. I walked through the laundry room and caught a wiff of those nasty dryer sheets that taunt me and lost my Cheerios in the garage. I decided immediately that someone had it out for me. I was past the 12 week window and was still getting sick. Finally this past weekend I was brave enough to try it again and I feel great. I did get some raw hamburger on me last night that made me gag and then throw up a bit while Josh laughed at how ludacris is was that a drop of raw hamburger on my shirt sent me to the sink.
Some fun things that have been happening in our world is that a couple weeks ago we had our first ultrasound and everything looks great! The baby is measuring right on size and everything looks intact. We go in exactly 12 days to find out if our little one has a peepee or not. Honestly, I am pretty nervous about this whole thing because this means so much.
My belly is getting bigger. Its still quite a sight for me to see. I am getting used to the idea of my stomach sticking out. Its a very strange feeling to see it gradually get bigger every day. Josh loves my belly and thinks it looks so great. From time to time I will forget about it and then catch a glimpse in the mirror and just start laughing about it. I still don't quite associate myself with being pregnant. We had our faculty picture at school the other day and when the principal said, "The pregnant woman needs to be sitting." I stepped aside to let her take her seat. Then they informed me that I in fact was that pregnant woman and I should take a seat because I was wasting time, all I could do was laugh.
Sorry this is such a lengthy post but since I haven't posted in ages I figured that was quite a bit of catching up to do.
*the picture of the spring flowers I felt to be very appropriate for the way I am finally feeling.
